KJ Choi
A late starter among the world's top golfers, KJ Choi didn't turn to the game until age 16 - after competing successfully as a junior weight lifter. He turned pro eight years later, in 1994 and became the first South Korean to join the PGA Tour in 2000.
Today, at age 37, Choi exhibits the build of a weightlifter, carrying a muscular 185 pounds on his 5 ft 8 in frame. But power is not the essence of his golf game. Instead he owes his success to precision and consistency - making him a huge proponent of the SuperStroke™ Putter Grip. |

His win at the 2007 AT&T National Tournament marked the first time Choi had used the SuperStroke™ Putter Grip in competition. As a result of its performance at the AT&T, the SuperStroke™ has been on his putter ever since.
According to Choi, putting confidence has been a real factor in his recent success. "In the past, every time I finished my round there was something about my game, usually my putting, that I always felt there was something missing." he said. "But with the SuperStroke™ that feeling has gone away. It works well and exactly as I thought. It keeps me from using my wrists too much and make me use my shoulders to putt. It just makes the ball roll better and it gives me confidence."
Choi's skills have earned him seven career victories. 43 top ten finishes and nearly $18 million in prize money on PGA Tour. He also holds four titles on the Asian tour, four on the Japanese tour and one on the European tour.
His impressive wire-to-wire victory at the 2008 Sony Open in Hawaii extended to four his consecutive-season winning streak. Among current players, only Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson have won in more consecutive seasons.
Off tour, Choi lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife and three children and is active in church and philanthropic activities.
